Finding Support: The Role of Encouragement in Pursuing Your Passion

When I first set out to build a career in wedding planning, I quickly realized how vital support and encouragement were—not just nice-to-haves, but essentials. They kept me going through tough days, helped me believe in myself when doubt crept in, and fueled the fire that turned a passion into a thriving business.

Why Support Matters So Much

Pursuing a dream—especially one that disrupts your current life or challenges expectations—can feel isolating. You’ll face doubts, obstacles, and moments when giving up seems easier.

That’s where encouragement comes in. Whether it’s from family, friends, mentors, or even strangers who believe in you, support:

  • Reinforces your confidence

  • Offers practical guidance and wisdom

  • Holds you accountable when motivation wanes

  • Reminds you why you started when the road gets hard

My Personal Circle of Encouragement

Early on, I faced discouragement, including being told I “couldn’t” pursue wedding planning because of family responsibilities. But I also found champions—people who saw my passion and potential.

My husband, Donovan — my constant reminder that I’m never walking through the hard seasons alone.

When I met Donovan, my husband, he became a cornerstone of my support. He encouraged me consistently, checked in on my progress, and stood beside me through every challenge. Even now, as I head off to work while he cares for our children, that support continues to make all the difference.

How You Can Build Your Support System

1. Identify your cheerleaders. Who believes in you unconditionally? Who challenges you kindly? These are your people.

2. Seek mentors and peers. Connect with others in your industry or community who understand your journey and can offer guidance.

3. Be honest about your needs. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, advice, or even just a listening ear.

4. Give support back. Encouragement is a two-way street. Uplift others, and you’ll create a stronger network of care.

Encouragement Is a Gift You Deserve

If you’re reading this and feeling alone or unsure, know this: You deserve support. Your dreams deserve to be nurtured by a community that lifts you up.

Don’t hesitate to reach out, connect, and build your circle. It could be the difference between giving up and pushing through to your breakthrough.

"Lean on the people who believe in you."

It’s because of their support that I can lead with heart and stand where I am today.

Final Thoughts

No matter where you are in your journey—just starting out or deep into building your dream—remember that encouragement is a superpower. Surround yourself with it, and watch your passion turn into purpose.
