Running a business while raising a family is one of the most rewarding and complex journeys I’ve ever experienced. For me, blending family and business has come with both challenges and beautiful lessons. It has stretched me, humbled me, and reminded me again and again of what truly matters
As a mom with children from a previous marriage and now part of a blended family with my husband Donovan, creating a home environment that supports both my business and my family’s wellbeing has been essential. I’ve learned that when home feels steady and supportive, everything else becomes a little more possible.
Why Blending Family and Business Requires a Supportive Home
Your home is your foundation. When the people closest to you understand, support, and believe in what you’re building, it creates space for you to thrive both personally and professionally.
Without that kind of support, blending family and business can feel overwhelming, isolating, and harder than it needs to be. But when your home life and work life begin to support each other instead of compete with each other, it changes everything.

How We Built Our Supportive Home
1. Open Communication
We talk honestly about needs, schedules, and challenges. Knowing where everyone is emotionally and practically helps us stay connected and support one another better.
2. Shared Responsibilities
Donovan plays such an active role in parenting and caring for our home. That partnership gives me the space to focus on work when I need to, knowing my family is loved and well cared for.
3. Respect for Boundaries
We try to create clear boundaries between work time and family time so we can be fully present in each moment. It’s not always perfect, but the intention matters.
4. Celebrating Together
We celebrate the wins, both big and small, in business and in family life. It reminds us that we’re building something together, not separately.

Why This Balance Is So Important to Me
I believe that success isn’t just measured by business growth, but also by the quality of relationships and the happiness of those we love.
By nurturing a supportive home, I’m not only able to pursue my passion for wedding planning, but I’m also modeling for my children the power of balance, respect, and teamwork.

Encouragement for Anyone Blending Family and Business
If you’re trying to navigate blending family and business, give yourself grace. It takes communication, patience, and a whole lot of intention. You won’t always get it perfectly right, and that’s okay.
Build your support system at home as thoughtfully as you build your team at work. When those two worlds begin working together, everything feels a little lighter, stronger, and more sustainable.
Final Thought
Creating a supportive home isn’t just good for your business. It’s essential for your wellbeing, your relationships, and the life you’re building together. A strong home makes it easier to keep showing up with heart in every other area of life.
With love and balance,
