Why Empowering Other Women in Business Became My Mission

Brandi Swanson seated by a women in business quote.

When I first started Next Chapter Weddings, my goal was simple: to build a business that supported my family and allowed me to be present for my daughter and newborn son.

I wasn’t thinking about leadership.

I wasn’t thinking about building a team.

And I definitely wasn’t thinking about impact on a larger scale.

I was thinking about survival. Stability. And creating something that gave me both purpose and flexibility in a season where I needed both deeply. But what I didn’t realize at the time was that this small beginning would eventually grow into something much bigger than me—It would become a space where other women could step into their own strength, their own calling, and their own version of freedom too.

From Survival to Purpose

After walking through heartbreak, rebuilding my life, and starting over in ways I never planned for, something in me shifted.

Success stopped being about external milestones. It stopped being about titles, income, or appearances. And it started becoming something quieter—but far more powerful:

Freedom.

Freedom to be a present mom without guilt.

Freedom to create without constantly feeling stretched too thin.

Freedom to build something meaningful that actually aligned with my life—not consumed it.

And once I experienced that shift, I couldn’t unsee it. Because I started realizing how many women around me were still stuck in the version of life I had just come out of.

The Moment It Became Clear

That’s when it clicked for me. This wasn’t just about me anymore. It wasn’t just about building a wedding planning company.

It was about something deeper: Creating space for women in business to feel seen, supported, and empowered in both their ambition and their real life.

I wasn’t just building a business. I was building a community. A place where women could bring their whole selves—without having to shrink, hide, or choose between their dreams and their lives.

What Empowering Women in Business Looks Like Today

Today, I have the privilege of leading a team of incredible women who share the heart behind Next Chapter Weddings. Each one brings something unique—creativity, leadership, calm under pressure, attention to detail, and a deep commitment to serving couples well.

But what matters most to me isn’t just what they do. It’s who they are becoming in the process.

We don’t operate from hierarchy, we operate from collaboration.

We don’t compete, we support.

We don’t just celebrate weddings, we celebrate each other.

We check in on each other’s lives, not just our tasks.

We grow together. We learn together. We carry the weight together when things are heavy. And we celebrate every win, big or small, both inside and outside of work.

Because this is not just a team. It’s a shared space of purpose.

Redefining Success for Women in Leadership

One of the greatest joys of this journey has been watching women realize something powerful through their work here: That success does not have to come at the cost of your life.

You can be ambitious and still present.

You can be driven and still grounded.

You can love your work and still love your home.

You can build something meaningful without burning yourself out to prove you deserve it.

And for so many women, that realization alone is life-changing. Because it challenges everything they’ve been taught about what success is supposed to look like.

Why This Became My Mission

Empowering other women in business became my mission because I’ve lived both sides of the story. I’ve lived the version of striving, surviving, and carrying everything alone. And I’ve lived the version of rebuilding, realigning, and creating space for something healthier and more intentional. And I know how different those two lives feel.

So if I can help even one woman realize she doesn’t have to choose between her dreams and her life…

If I can help her believe that she can build something beautiful without losing herself in the process…

Then every hard season, every long night, every moment I wasn’t sure I could keep going—was worth it.

Final Thought

At Next Chapter Weddings, we are more than a team. We are women choosing a different way to build, to lead, and to live. We are rooted in faith, purpose, and heart. And we believe deeply that when women are supported, seen, and empowered, they do not just change their own lives. They change everything around them.

That is why empowering women in business has become such a meaningful part of my mission. It is woven into the way we lead, the way we support one another, and the kind of space we continue to build here.
