As they embarked on the next chapter of their lives together, Next Chapter Weddings had the honor of bringing their dream wedding to life in the heart of Houston. And let me tell you… it was absolutely perfect!! Without a doubt, Reese and Joey’s elegant Houston wedding was one of my most favorite weddings to date. Everyone was so kind, the Vendors were amazing, the food was phenomenal, and most importantly, Reese and Joey were obviously deeply in love. It doesn’t get better than that! The Ceremony The picturesque St. John Church at Sam Houston Park served as the perfect setting for Reese and Joey's ceremony. Nestled among towering trees and surrounded by historic charm, the chapel provided a romantic backdrop for the couple to exchange their heartfelt vows. St. John Church is a one-room, small church that was built in 1891. It has beautiful elements of the Gothic Revival style of architecture. It also holds various items that are displayed as a small museum. The front of the chapel held two glorious floral arrangements provided by Freedom Florals of Houston, TX. With the serene melodies of HeartStrings Houston filling the air, Reese made her way down the aisle, her radiant smile illuminating the room, and Joey's eyes sparkling with love and anticipation. Reese + Joey praying together during their wedding ceremony. The Special Details The ceremony was officiated by Reagan Reynolds, Joey’s childhood friend. It was a beautiful testament to Joey's commitment to strong friendships. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they promised to stand by each other's side through thick and thin, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that would last a lifetime. With every heartfelt word spoken, it was clear that Reese and Joey were meant to be together, and their love filled the room with warmth and joy. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds took portraits with their families and each other while their guests made their way to Pappas Bros Steakhouse for a lavish dinner party reception. The elegant ambiance of the restaurant provided the perfect setting for an evening of celebration and revelry. Freedom Floral had gorgeous arrangements of blooms adorning every table, adding a touch of romance to the festivities. From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with the unmistakable scent of sizzling steaks and the sound of clinking glasses, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. They were also greeted by my amazing Assistant, Danielle, who made sure all guests found their seats and received their valet comps. I transferred the chapel floral arrangements to the dinner party reception to all to the already beautiful flowers that were already set up. You can never have too many flowers, right? Dinner Party Reception at Pappas Bros Steakhouse in Houston, TX. The Reception I met Reese and Joey at the front of the restaurant and bustled Reese’s wedding gown then made our way to the back room for their grand entrance. The couple was met with thunderous applause and cheers of joy from their loved ones. Pappas Bros Steakhouse had their own sound system built-in to the private room so it made announcements seamless. The couple opted to join their guests in a relaxed atmosphere during cocktail hour. They did not want the typical wedding day formalities; such as, a first dance, parent dances or a bouquet toss. Instead they wanted all of their guests AND vendors to eat, drink and be merry! Of course, none of the vendors drank alcohol while we were working, but we were treated so well! We were given the wine room to leave our personal items to enjoy the same 4 course meal as Reese, Joey and their wedding guests. It. Was. Amazing!! Throughout the evening, guests were treated to a culinary experience like no other, with mouthwatering dishes served with impeccable attention to detail. The dinning experience started off with a flavorful shrimp cocktail. Next: the most mouth watering salad I had ever experienced. For the main course, guests had the option of filet mignon, salmon or grilled chicken. What did all the vendors choose? Filet mignon, of course!! The wait staff brought risotto and green beans for the table to share (family style). Last, but certainly not least, all guests (and vendors) were given the choice of cheesecake, sorbet or chocolate turtle pie for dessert. I chose the chocolate turtle pie, and it was the most amazing dessert I have ever tasted in my entire life… seriously, it was so good!!! I cannot wait to go back. The food was not just dinner, but an experience that none of Reese and Joey’s guests would soon forget. Thank you speech given by the Bride and Groom, Reese + Joey. We Can't Forget These Players! The Planning/ The Execution From the moment I met Rachel, I knew this was going to be a love story for the ages. Rachel radiated an infectious happiness that brightened everyone around them, and as her Wedding Planner, my mission was clear – to create a day that perfectly embodied both Rachel and Anthony's love and personalities. The couple booked one of our partial planning packages (Silver). ANNNND they were one of my very first Clients to also booked my Décor Service Package that I had just started offering 6 months before their wedding. Months of meticulous planning and collaboration culminated in a wedding extravaganza that was both romantic and heartfelt. From the elegant floral arrangements that adorned the venue to the carefully curated music playlist that set the tone for the day, no detail was left untouched. We worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the wedding reflected the couple's unique story and journey. The Setting Picture this: a picturesque setting with the sun gently kissing the horizon, a gentle breeze rustling through the trees, and love floating in the air like fairy dust. It was a day that epitomized everything dreams are made of, and we were honored to be part of this incredible celebration of love, commitment, and togetherness. Of course, no wedding would be complete without amazing food that tantalized taste buds and satisfied cravings. Guests were treated to amazing Mexican food from Pappas Catering, leaving everyone raving about the delectable delights served. Beyond the aesthetics and the festivities, what made this wedding truly special were the people involved. Family and friends, near and far, gathered to celebrate the union of Rachel and Anthony. Their unwavering support and overwhelming love were evident throughout the day, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. As wedding planners, our hearts soared witnessing the pure happiness on both Rachel and Anthony's faces. Seeing their dreams come to life and witnessing the joy shared between them and their loved ones is what makes our job so incredibly rewarding. The Ceremony Hands down, the ceremony was my most favorite part. The way Rachel and Anthony look at one another makes you absolutely honored to be in the presence of such pu re, genuine love. There was a little glitch with the audio, but it did not matter. Love and magic was in that room. After the ceremony, Rachel, Anthony, the wedding party and immediate family took some pictures while the rest of the guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the patio. During this time, my team and the catering staff flipped the room to create an elegant space to host Rachel and Anthony's reception. There was so much to do. It took every once of man power in that room, but we got it done just in time. The Florals + Décor Rachel and Anthony went the DIY route with their flowers. It simply was not a priority to them. Rachel purchased all the flowers herself. The wedding colors were sage and cream with gold accents. I wish I had photos of the reception. The couple used our Décor Service Package which offers unlimited access to all of our in-house décor. And the those to go with the timeless, classic route of utilizing gorgeous candles as their centerpieces. Conclusion I will never forget this day or any of our wonderful meetings that led up to it. Rachel and Anthony have that forever kind of love that we all dream about. Who knows, maybe one day I will get the privilege of planning one of their babies' wedding! They gifted me the sweetest things —cute motivational pens, a one-hour massage, earrings, and a mug from The Office that says “World’s Best Boss.” It was such a simple moment, but I was honestly overcome with emotion. It hit me... I’m someone’s boss. That might sound funny, but for so long, I never saw myself that way. I remember years ago when my nephew asked me if I had any employees. I told him no, just a few contractors who helped me from time to time. I was proud of what I had built but a little part of me wondered if that meant I wasn’t as successful as I thought. I Believed Love Meant Staying I believe in love. I always have. It’s why I stayed far longer than I should have in a marriage that wasn’t safe. It’s why I excused things I shouldn’t have excused. And it’s why walking away wasn’t just painful—it felt like tearing away a piece of myself. I used to think strength meant enduring. Staying. Keeping a straight face. Protecting an image. I told myself that the hard moments were just part of marriage, that love was worth fighting for—even if it meant fighting alone. But the truth is, there’s a difference between hard and harmful. The Moment Everything Changed And one night, I saw that difference through the eyes of my daughter. She was just shy of two years old when she watched her father yell at me—loud, angry, and unrelenting. I was backed into a corner, frozen. But she wasn’t. With a voice far too small for the moment, she shouted, “Daddy, stop yelling at Mama.” It wrecked me. I realized she wasn’t just witnessing this—she was absorbing it. She was learning what love looked like. What marriage sounded like. And I couldn’t let her grow up believing that this was normal. That this was love. Choosing to Leave That night, I made a silent decision. And the very next day, I left. Leaving wasn’t a clean break. It wasn’t glamorous or easy or even fully confident. It was terrifying. But it was necessary. And for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was fighting for something real—peace, safety, and the example I wanted to set for my children. What Strength and Surrender Really Mean Strength, I’ve learned, isn’t about hiding your pain. It’s about acknowledging it. It’s about drawing boundaries. It’s about choosing truth over image. This is what strength and surrender have come to mean for me. Surrender isn’t weakness—it’s clarity. It’s realizing you cannot change someone else. Doubt and fear are almost guaranteed to show up — sometimes as whispers, sometimes as loud voices in your head. When I began my wedding planning journey, I wasn’t immune to these feelings.
