Leading With Conviction in an Unregulated Industry

The Question That Stayed With Me
There was a consultation call that stayed with me long after it ended.
It was a virtual meeting with a bride and her mom. We were walking through our packages, talking about what support would look like for their wedding day, and everything felt comfortable but thoughtful. They had clearly done their research. They were prepared. And then the bride paused...
You could tell she was nervous. She didn’t want to offend me, and she took a moment to carefully find her words. She said something along the lines of:
“I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way… but I’m confused. We’ve talked to a lot of planners. Your portfolio is incredible. Your experience is clear. But your pricing is lower than a lot of others we’ve seen. I just don’t understand why.”
It wasn’t judgment. It was curiosity. And honestly, it was a fair question.

The Truth Behind Our Pricing
I took a breath before answering, because I knew this moment mattered. Not just for whether or not they would book me, but for how I show up as a business owner, a leader, and a woman leading with strong convictions in an industry that doesn’t have many rules—I told her the truth.
I explained that I didn’t arrive at our pricing randomly, and I certainly didn’t arrive there by undervaluing myself or my team. Our pricing is intentional. It’s based on knowing our hours, our capacity, our systems, and our long-term sustainability. We know exactly what it takes to serve our couples well and support a healthy business.
I shared that my heart is, and always has been, for brides and grooms who deserve a stress-free wedding experience. That it is genuinely an honor to be invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life.
"Accessibility matters to me—not because quality should be discounted, but because great service shouldn’t be reserved only for those who can pay the highest price."

Where That Conviction Comes From
I also shared a piece of my story that shaped that belief—I grew up very poor.
That experience didn’t just shape my work ethic—it shaped my compassion. It gave me a deep awareness of what it feels like to want something beautiful and meaningful, while also needing to be responsible and realistic. And in an industry that is largely unregulated, I’ve had to decide what my position would be.
There is nothing wrong with charging more. There are incredibly talented planners who charge luxury prices, and they deserve every dollar they earn. Some choose to take on fewer weddings. Some build boutique models. That is their path.
It just isn’t ours.
How We Lead and Serve
At Next Chapter Weddings, we’ve built a team-based model that allows us to take on multiple events without sacrificing quality or presence. As we grow, our team grows. We are intentional about balance.
Our lead coordinators handle no more than two weddings a month so they can be fully present for their clients and their families. No burnout. No stretched-thin energy. Just focused, wholehearted service.
That model allows us to serve more couples while maintaining a high-end experience—without charging luxury pricing.
And I was very clear about this:
Lower price does not automatically mean lower quality.Higher price does not automatically mean better fit—Sometimes what matters most is alignment.
I told her that my goal as an entrepreneur isn’t just to earn a paycheck. It’s to lead with integrity. To build a business that feels right. To model sustainable leadership for a team of women who are passionate about this work. And to contribute something meaningful to an industry that has deeply impacted my life.

Why We Stand Firm in What We Believe
By the end of the call, I felt proud. Not because I had convinced her of anything, but because I stood firm in what I believe—They booked me the same day.
And I didn’t walk away thinking, Should I have charged more? I walked away thinking, This is exactly why I do what I do.
If you’re a couple navigating pricing and wondering what it all means, I hope this encourages you to look beyond the numbers. Ask questions. Trust your instincts. Find the team that feels aligned with your values, your priorities, and your vision for your day.
And if that leads you to us, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
